So many amazing pictures were taken in 2013

Going through all the images from 2013 trying to find stuff to write about is so fun because I am like a kid in the candy store, OHH Look at that one, and OHH what about that one, Its crazy. I guess I need to pick a idea or subject to post about and then look for pictures to fit. Just looking for amazing pictures when you have so much to choice from is impossible. It makes me so excited for next year, Even though My wedding season this year I don't get a much of a break as I have done in the past. This year my last wedding for the season is jan 4, then we start up again in march. But that down time gives me the opportunity to reflelect on last year and plan for next year. So many great things and cool ideas coming. Its amazing and more and more overwhelming to think about as each year passes and I realize I have been photographing weddings for not 5 yrs or 6 yrs or 10 yrs its going on like 13 yrs. 13 yrs is longer than anything I have ever done and have no intentions of stoping because each gets more and more exciting!

B&W Wedding album

I have really been loving B&W lately, I love the way it concentrates on the basic's and is a flip from the over saturated incorrectly done HDR Stuff that I have seen some photographers try to do. I come from the old school of photography when you get the exposure, composition, color, and saturation all right in the camera when you take the photo. Not just take anything and then go back later and try and fix it in computer programs, and when that doesn't work lets make it HDR and call it my "style"! As a photographer there are uses for HDR it is basically the new Zone system for digital ( the zone system was originally created by ansel adams ). It is intended to be able to capture a higher dynamic range that what is available with just one exposure by taking several over and underexposures and combining them together. This works great with landscape and stationary subjects but not with people. However you can still click a button just like you can do on your phone in an iPhone app and it will make the picture look over saturated and "artsy". This can be a cool "effect" but its not professional photography. Thats why I have been so drawn to B&W because you can't bullshit B&W. It makes you look at lighting and shadows and give a classic look to your pictures one that 10 yrs down the road you will still look at and love rather than 10 yrs down the road looking at a over saturated, overexposed photo and thinking "what was that all about".

I attached a link to my new sample album I created in all B&W. Even though it lacks color each photo or page tells a classic story of a bride & Groom getting married. Something that you will cherish for years and want to show for a lifetime.

specialize in what you love to do!

I really love doing weddings, Now that its begging to be the slow part of the year as far as shooting the weddings it begins the busy part of the year for planning for next years weddings. This is where I work on ideas such as coming up with easier ways for customer interaction such as communication and better easier ways to order there prints and albums, I work on pricing for 2014, So much to do! I always have a very busy learning and trade show schedule for next year this is where I connect with all my idol photographers, network with all my vendors, and learn a ton of new things to bring back to buffalo for all my customers. In 2014 I will be attending wppi in vegas in feb, Shutterfest in april, another trade show in october and PPA Imaging usa in january ish in 2015, and thats just what I have planned so far. I also have a wedding booked in kansas for oct 2014. Its going to be great busy year 2014. It amazes me each year when I look back at the great pictures BKM Photography has take and makes me excited about the new pictures we will take at our future weddings.
